Tizi Ouzou

Tizi Ouzou is a city in Kabylia, Algeria, where it ranks second it population after Béjaïa. It is the capital and largest city of Tizi Ouzou Province and of Great Kabylia (Grande Kabylie, which is the western part of Kabylia).
The name comes from the old Kabyle Tizi U Uzzezzu, which is nowadays written Tizi Wezzu in Latin script and
in Tifinagh.
Tizi means mountain pass and U means of (the), while Uzzezzu means broom.
